John C. Trimble Named Managing Partner

John C. Trimble has been selected by the Equity Partners of Lewis Wagner, LLP to serve a three-year term as the firm's Managing Partner, beginning January 1, 2008.

John has been elected to the Indiana State Judicial Nominating Commission. This commission selects nominees to fill vacancies on the Indiana Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals and Tax Court, selects the Chief Justice of Indiana, and certifies former Indiana judges as Senior Judges. The commission also hears all issues relating to the qualification and discipline of Indiana judges. John was elected to the commission by a majority vote of the attorneys in the state judicial district.

For the past two years, John has served as Chairman of Defense Research Institute's (DRI) National Judicial Task Force, and is a former member of the DRI Board of Directors. The DRI task force focused on the issue of judicial independence.

John's article on civil justice was published in DRI's flagship publication, For The Defense, and appeared in the August 2007 issue, reaching more than 25,000 corporate attorneys. The article was entitled: "The Time is Now for Defense Lawyers to Learn about the Issues Facing the Judiciary." John wrote it in his capacity as the current chair of the DRI Judicial Task Force. The publication also featured an interview with John Martin, the current President of DRI, on the subject of the National Judicial Task Force and the importance of its work. In November, John served as the Master of Ceremonies at the Gala to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the founding of Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, held in French Lick, Indiana.
